Quality PU foams for insulation and installation

PU foam (polyurethane foam) is indispensable in modern window and door fitting. It does not just hold things in place - above all it insulates against heat loss and noise. At baustoff-held.de you will find gun and hand foams for every purpose, from well shaft foam through to B1 fire-rated foam.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

What is the advantage of gun foam?

It can be dosed far more precisely and the work is considerably cleaner.

When do I use two-component foam?

2K foam cures extremely quickly and with high compressive strength regardless of humidity - ideal for door frames.

Is PU foam watertight?

Dedicated well shaft foam is water-resistant and suitable for shaft rings; ordinary foam is not.

How do I dispose of empty PU foam cans?

PU cans are hazardous waste. Use the PDR take-back schemes (usually free of charge at the dealer).

Can PU foam be painted over?

Yes - once cured the foam can be cut back and then plastered or painted.

How do I protect foam from UV radiation?

Foam is not UV-resistant. Outdoors it must always be covered over.

Why do I have to shake the can before use?

Only then do the propellant and active ingredients mix properly for the best result (about 20 shakes).

How do I get foam off my skin?

Fresh foam with a cleaner; cured foam only mechanically, wearing off over several days.

What does fire class B1 mean?

B1 means 'not readily flammable' to DIN 4102. Important for public buildings.

How much foam comes out of one can?

A 750 ml can gives roughly 30 to 45 litres of free-risen foam, depending on expansion.
