Description
OTTO Primer 1218 is a silicone permanently-wet primer based on a solvent-based adhesion promoter combination. It improves adhesion on absorbent, mineral materials under permanent wet load, for example for the swimming pool silicone OTTOSEAL S 18. The 100 ml aluminium bottle is enough for individual joints and minor repairs.

Limits & notes
The flash-off time is at least 60 minutes and is therefore considerably longer than with other OTTO primers. On natural stone, do not wet the surface next to the joint flanks, otherwise stains may occur. According to the safety data sheet the primer contains a high proportion of toluene. For other OTTO product groups, substrates or coatings, OTTO recommends preliminary tests. Do not apply the primer beyond the joint edges and bonding surfaces, otherwise soiling or visual changes are possible.

Application & tips
The bonding surfaces must be clean, free of grease, dry and sound. Apply the primer to the joint flanks extremely carefully with a suitable brush and allow to flash off for at least 60 minutes; higher temperatures shorten and lower temperatures lengthen the flash-off time. Solvent-containing, flammable: only with good ventilation, away from ignition sources; wear safety goggles and solvent-resistant gloves, according to the safety data sheet made of butyl rubber with a thickness of more than 0.4 mm. Because of the many influences on site, a trial application is always necessary. The use-by date is on the container, storage stability is 12 months at 23 °C.
