Description
OTTO Primer 1105 is a viscous, strongly film-forming mineral primer based on a solvent-based adhesion promoter combination for mineral and absorbent materials such as concrete, plaster and fibre cement. It seals off alkaline substrates and improves the adhesion of OTTO acrylic sealants and of the 2K PU foam OTTOPUR OP 920. The 100 ml aluminium bottle is enough for individual joints and minor repairs.
Benefits at a glance
- Seals: for sealing off alkaline substrates such as concrete and plaster.
- Strongly film-forming: the thick-bodied primer forms a closed film on absorbent surfaces.
- Wide range of substrates: for OTTO acrylic sealants on concrete, plaster, aerated concrete, fibre cement, gypsum, untreated wood, wood stains, anodised aluminium and PVC.
- Easy to plan: flash-off time at least 30 minutes, further processing up to 3 hours afterwards.
- System-tested: Compatibility with OTTO sealants and adhesives tested and approved by OTTO application technology.
Areas of application
- Concrete, plaster, aerated concrete, fibre cement and gypsum with OTTO acrylic sealants
- Untreated wood and wood stains with OTTO acrylic sealants
- Anodised aluminium and some plastics such as PVC
- Highly absorbent and sanding substrates for OTTOPUR OP 920
Limits & notes
OTTO describes the improvement in adhesion for OTTO acrylic sealants and the 2K PU foam OTTOPUR OP 920. For other OTTO product groups, substrates or coatings, OTTO recommends preliminary tests. Do not apply the primer beyond the joint edges and bonding surfaces, otherwise soiling or visual changes are possible.
Hazard statements: Danger. H225 Highly flammable liquid and vapour. H332 Harmful if inhaled. H315 Causes skin irritation. H318 Causes serious eye damage. H335 May cause respiratory irritation. H336 May cause drowsiness or dizziness. H373 May cause damage to organs through prolonged or repeated exposure. Safety data sheet available from the manufacturer.
Application & tips
Free the bonding surfaces of release agents, grease, oil, dust, water and old adhesives or sealants; clean non-porous substrates with OTTO Cleaner T and a clean, lint-free cloth, clean porous substrates of loose particles mechanically, for example with a steel brush or grinding disc. Apply the primer to the joint flanks with a suitable brush and allow to flash off for at least 30 minutes; higher temperatures shorten and lower temperatures lengthen the flash-off time. Further processing can also take place several hours later, provided no dust gets onto the surface. Solvent-containing, flammable: only with good ventilation, away from ignition sources; wear safety goggles and solvent-resistant gloves, according to the safety data sheet made of butyl rubber with a thickness of more than 0.4 mm. Because of the many influences on site, a trial application is always necessary. The use-by date is on the container, storage stability is 12 months at 23 °C.
