Description
SikaBond T-2 is a 1-component construction adhesive based on polyurethane for elastic bonding of concrete, wood and ceramics. It cures with atmospheric humidity, stays permanently elastic and absorbs component movements that a screw connection would transmit into the joint. The 300 ml cartridge in white is intended for prefabricated construction, interior fit-out and assembly work.
Benefits at a glance
- Permanently elastic bond: Shore A hardness 55 and 400 % elongation at break – the bond line absorbs expansion and settlement.
- Sound- and vibration-damping: interrupts the structure-borne sound bridge that a screw connection forms.
- Wide range of adhesion: concrete, wood, ceramics, fibre cement, plasterboard, steel, aluminium, rigid PVC, GRP.
- High initial tack: holds light components without additional fixing, tensile strength 2.5 N/mm².
- Also for outdoors: -40 °C to +90 °C, briefly up to +120 °C, weather- and ageing-resistant.
- Clean to keep working: solvent-free, odourless, can be sanded after curing.
Areas of application
- Sticking on window sills made of natural stone, concrete or artificial stone
- Elastic bonding of stair treads and nosings
- Fixing buffer rails as well as door and information signs
- Structural bonding in prefabricated construction and interior fit-out
- Components with different thermal expansion, for example metal on concrete
Limits & notes
Not suitable for glass and swimming pool areas or for Teflon, PE, PP, polystyrene, bituminous substrates, EPDM and natural rubber. On absorbent substrates Sika recommends a primer. Anyone who wants to mount load-bearing immediately is better off using a high-tack hybrid adhesive.
Hazard statements: Warning. H317 May cause an allergic skin reaction. EUH204 Contains isocyanates. May produce an allergic reaction. EUH211 Warning! Hazardous respirable droplets may be formed when sprayed. Do not breathe spray or mist. Safety data sheet available from the manufacturer.
Application & tips
Prepare joining surfaces sound, clean, dry and free of grease. Insert the cartridge into a manual caulking gun for 280–310 ml and apply in beads with the triangular nozzle. Insert the component within the skin-forming time of 30–40 minutes and support it until initial strength. Do not press the adhesive layer flat – its thickness carries the elasticity. Contains isocyanates. Apply only with disposable nitrile gloves and safety goggles, ensure good ventilation; cured adhesive can only be removed mechanically. Application temperature +5 °C to +40 °C, through-curing 3.5 mm in 24 hours. Store unopened between +10 °C and +25 °C, shelf life 12 months.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to fix the bonded parts?
The high initial tack usually holds light components without fixing. Support heavy parts and overhead locations until initial strength.
How many metres of adhesive bead does one cartridge give?
With the triangular nozzle around 44 ml per running metre, so from 300 ml about 6.5 m.
Is the adhesive suitable for outdoors?
Yes, weather- and ageing-resistant from -40 °C to +90 °C. It is not intended for swimming pool areas and permanently under water.
Can the bond line be reworked?
After curing it can be sanded. The product data sheet gives no information on paintability – test beforehand on a sample area.
