Description
Sparvar Spray Paint RAL 7037 dusty grey is an acrylic paint on an acrylic resin basis for coloured topcoats from the spray can on metal, wood, masonry and hard plastics. The dusty grey shade dries to a high gloss with around 90 per cent reflection at a 60 degree measuring angle; the paint is free of lead, cadmium and aromatics. Depending on the substrate, the 400 ml can covers about 3 square metres and is intended for tradespeople and DIY enthusiasts alike.
Benefits at a glance
- High gloss: approx. 90 % reflection at 60° measuring angle, compared with approx. 50 % for silk gloss.
- Quick to continue working: dust-dry after 5 to 10 minutes, touch-dry after 30 to 40 minutes at 20 °C.
- Recoatable at any time: with itself at any time, with no fixed time window.
- Clean application: sprayed from 25 to 30 cm in a cross pattern, the paint does not run on vertical surfaces.
- Formulated for lower odour: aromatics-free and free of lead and cadmium.
Areas of application
- Steel, aluminium and galvanised components indoors and outdoors
- Wood, wood-based materials and cured old paint finishes
- Masonry, concrete and ceramics
- Hard plastics after a prior adhesion test
- Touch-ups on railings, gates, machines and garden furniture
Limits & notes
Not suitable for polystyrene foam (Styropor) and vinyl-containing plastics, as the solvent attacks these substrates. The paint is not petrol-resistant; for fuel caps and fuel-carrying parts a 2K paint is the right choice. On unknown plastics and third-party old paints, carry out a trial application on a concealed area beforehand.
Hazard statements: Danger. Extremely flammable aerosol. Pressurised container: may burst if heated. Causes serious eye irritation. May cause drowsiness or dizziness. Repeated exposure may cause skin dryness or cracking. May form explosive/flammable vapour/air mixtures in use. Safety data sheet available from the manufacturer.
Application & tips
Clean, dry and degrease the substrate carefully, remove loose old paint and rust, and mask adjacent surfaces. Shake the can well and spray thinly from 25 to 30 cm parallel to the workpiece in a cross pattern, ideally at around 20 °C. Solvent-containing, flammable: only with good ventilation, away from ignition sources; wear safety goggles and solvent-resistant gloves (nitrile). When spraying indoors, also use respiratory protection with an A2 gas filter. After finishing, spray the can empty upside down so that the valve stays clear, and store cool, dry and frost-free.
Frequently asked questions
How much area does one can cover?
Around 3 square metres, depending on the substrate and its absorbency. For opaque colours on a dark background, plan for two cans.
Can I spray directly onto metal without a primer?
On clean, degreased and rust-free metal, yes. On rusty steel, apply an anti-rust primer first.
When can I apply the second coat?
The paint can be recoated with itself at any time. In practice after 5 to 10 minutes wet-on-wet, or after complete drying of 24 hours.
Is the paint suitable for polystyrene foam (Styropor)?
No. The solvent dissolves polystyrene foam and vinyl-containing plastics; a water-based paint is necessary here.
