Description
Teroson FO 50 SK is a single-sided self-adhesive connection membrane based on polyester fleece for the inner building-structure connection of windows and façade elements. With an sd value of over 50 m it slows water vapour diffusion and provides airtightness and wind tightness on the warm side of the component. The roll 100 mm x 30 m is intended for window fitters, plasterers and self-builders who seal in line with RAL installation.
Benefits at a glance
- Quick start without adhesive: the 20 mm wide self-adhesive strip fixes the membrane to the window profile immediately, stapling is not needed.
- Vapour diffusion retarded: sd value over 50 m keeps moisture out of the joint and protects the insulation level from condensation.
- Can be overworked on both sides: nonwoven on both sides, so it can be plastered, bonded and painted over.
- Tear-resistant and adaptable: three-layer construction with membrane centre layer, 405 N/50 mm lengthwise, lies wrinkle-free around corners.
- Also usable in winter: application down to -5 °C, finger lift can be gripped even with gloves.
- Tested for low emissions: EMICODE EC 1 Plus, proofs for DGNB, LEED and BREEAM available.
Areas of application
- Interior connection of windows and doors to masonry, concrete and timber construction
- Connection joints between facade element and building structure according to RAL installation
- Window connections in external thermal insulation composite systems
- Airtight and windtight level at roof and wall connections inside
- Refurbishing leaking window connections when replacing windows
Limits & notes
The membrane belongs exclusively on the inner, warm side of the component; on the outside the joint must remain vapour-permeable, where a vapour-permeable exterior membrane is the right choice. On coarse-pored substrates that are not dense in structure, a smoothing coat is necessary beforehand, and on weakly bonded mineral substrates a primer coat. The self-adhesive strip alone does not hold the membrane on the building structure; a membrane adhesive is additionally required for that.
Application & tips
Prepare the substrate sound and free of dust, oil, grease, release agents and laitance, fill gravel pockets, knock off sharp edges, and in frost make sure it is free of ice. Peel off the release liner at the finger lift, bond the 20 mm strip to the profile and work it on with the hard rubber roller. Then apply membrane adhesive in strips to the building structure, recommended bond width 40 mm, and press the membrane firmly into the fresh, skin-free paste. Make overlaps 50 mm and ensure at least 75 % surface contact in the plastered area. Store rolls upright, dry and protected from pressure.
Frequently asked questions
Can I plaster directly over the membrane?
Yes, both sides are nonwoven-coated. In the plastered area at least 75 % of the surface must be bonded so that no water is taken up by capillary action.
Is the self-adhesive strip enough for the whole bond?
No. The 20 mm strip fixes the membrane to the window profile; on the building structure it is additionally bonded with membrane adhesive.
May the membrane go on the outside?
No. With an sd value over 50 m it is diffusion-retarding and belongs on the warm inside; a vapour-permeable membrane is used on the outside.
Down to what temperature can it be applied?
According to the data sheet from -5 °C to +35 °C, and the surfaces must be free of ice crystals.
