Description
Version 75 mm x 60 m. Teroson FO 50 Foil-Tack Duo is a connection membrane based on polyester fleece for the airtight and wind-tight building-structure connection on the inner, warm side of the component. With an sd value over 50 m to DIN EN ISO 12572 it forms the vapour-retarding layer of standard-compliant window installation. It is self-adhesive over its full surface on alternating sides and needs no stapler. The width of 75 mm covers common connection joints.
Benefits at a glance
- Tight immediately: hot-melt full-surface bonding on both sides, no additional stapling or bonding of the edges.
- Diffusion-retarding: sd value over 50 m protects the functional level from condensation caused by vapour convection.
- Load-bearing: three-layer construction, 405 N/50 mm tensile strength lengthwise to DIN EN 12310-1.
- Also in winter: application from -5 °C, adhesion according to the manufacturer even on damp profiles.
- Disappears in the build-up: can be plastered, bonded and painted over, suitable for external thermal insulation composite systems.
- Low emissions: EMICODE EC 1 Plus, declarations for DGNB, LEED and BREEAM available.
Areas of application
- Vapour-retarding sealing of the connection joint between window element and building structure
- Airtight and windtight level on the inner, warm side of the component
- Window and facade connections in external thermal insulation composite systems
- Connections to concrete, sand-lime brick, aerated concrete, timber and metal profiles
- Primer-free direct bonding on smooth mineral and metallic substrates
Limits & notes
The membrane is the inner, vapour-retarding layer. For the outer side of the connection joint, a driving-rain-tight, vapour-permeable outer membrane is additionally required. The UV resistance ends after 12 months, after which the connection must be plastered or clad. With wide joints or insulation overhang, the width of 75 mm may not be sufficient, in which case the 100 mm version is the right choice.
Application & tips
The bonding surfaces must be sound and free of dust, oil, grease and release agents, metallic surfaces also free of oxide layers; in frost, no ice crystals may be present. On weakly bonded mineral substrates the manufacturer recommends a primer coat, in cold or damp conditions the PR M+S primer, and on wet substrate the AD Adhesive Spray. First peel off the 20 mm wide release liner strip on the front and bond this part to the profile, then peel off the second release liner and work the membrane on firmly with a hard rubber roller. The guide value on the building structure is 40 mm bond width; overlap membrane joints by about 50 mm. The position can be corrected for up to 10 minutes. Store rolls upright and dry.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need an additional exterior membrane?
Yes. This membrane is the inner, vapour-retarding level. On the outside a vapour-permeable, driving-rain-tight membrane belongs in the joint, otherwise moisture that has penetrated cannot dry out.
Do I have to prime first?
On smooth mineral and metallic substrates the membrane bonds directly. On absorbent, weakly bonded or damp substrates a primer coat or primer is required.
Is 75 mm width enough?
The guideline is 40 mm adhesive width on the building structure plus joint width and adhesive width on the profile. For usual connections 75 mm is enough, for wide joints 100 mm makes sense.
How far does a roll go?
One roll contains 60 running metres. For a window with a 5 m perimeter, this gives around twelve connections.
