Description
The Sika Sikafloor-400 N balcony waterproofing is a UV-resistant, sealing and crack-bridging thin coating for waterproofing balconies, terraces and access galleries. It adheres to cement-bound floors as well as to tiles and old coatings; Sikafloor-410 is used as an optional sealer.

Pedestrian or trafficked? The distinction
Sikafloor-400 N Elastic is a sealing, crack-bridging coating for pedestrian surfaces. The Technical Data Sheet names balconies, terraces and access galleries as the area of use; trafficked surfaces are not listed there. If the surface is to be driven on by car, for example in a garage, carport or on a car parking space, Sikafloor-2510 is the suitable product.
Conversely the same applies: where the slab has cracks or water must be kept away from the surface because living space lies beneath, there is no way around the crack-bridging 400 N Elastic. A pure sealer does not seal.
System build-up according to manufacturer's information
The Technical Data Sheet describes the build-up in three coats. Consumption figures per square metre:
- Primer Sikafloor-150 Plus: approx. 0.3 to 0.5 kg/m²
- Coating Sikafloor-400 N Elastic: approx. 1.2 to 1.5 kg/m² on horizontal surfaces
- Sealer Sikafloor-410: approx. 0.15 kg/m²
For the coloured variant (System Standard Deco), approx. 30 to 40 g/m² Sikafloor Colorchips Mix WR are added between coating and sealer. Slip resistance is not adjusted with loose quartz sand but with the Sikafloor anti-slip agent in the sealer: R9 to R11 to DIN 51130.
Technical details and application
The substrate must be sound, clean, dry and free of separating substances and is primed as appropriate. Mix the coating in the prescribed mixing ratio and apply it crack-bridging in several coats; Sikafloor-410 is suitable as a sealer. Observe the manufacturer's information on primer, layer build-up and drying.
