Sika Sikaflex TS plus PU special sealant for slurry, silage and biogas 600 ml black

Description

Sikaflex TS plus is an elastic special sealant based on one-component, moisture-curing polyurethane for joints in agricultural tanks, biogas and wastewater plants. In black it is approved by the DIBt under Z-74.62-151 as a joint sealing system for storage and filling plants for liquid manure, slurry, solid manure, digestate and silage effluent. The 600 ml sausage pack is intended only for professional applicators.

Benefits at a glance

  • Approved by the building authorities: colour black according to DIBt approval Z-74.62-151, on concrete in the system with Sika Primer-115.
  • Chemically resistant: resistant to domestic wastewater, liquid manure, slurry, solid manure, poultry droppings and silage effluents.
  • Tear-resistant: tear propagation resistance 8 N/mm, elongation at break 500 %, Shore A hardness 40 after 28 days.
  • Movement capability: 7.5 % permissible total deformation according to the approval, 15 % for all other applications.

Areas of application

  • Concrete tanks for liquid manure, slurry and digestate
  • Bunker silos and solid manure storage areas
  • Steel tanks of segmental construction: overlaps, bolted connections, base points and edge protection on enamelled panels
  • Mesophilic biogas plants from +30 to +40 °C, pure overlap seals also thermophilic up to +55 °C
  • Wastewater plants

Limits & notes

For applications under the DIBt approval only the colour black is intended; concrete grey is intended for all other applications. In plants subject to approval, only skilled workers of a specialist company under § 62 AwSV trained by the approval holder may install it. Not suitable for glass sealing, swimming pools or substrates made of PE, PP, PTFE, polystyrene, bitumen or plasticiser-containing materials such as EPDM. Not resistant to alcohols, concentrated acids and alkalis or chlorinated and aromatic hydrocarbons; high NOx concentrations from faulty ensiling also cause damage. Do not paint over joints.

Hazard statements: Danger. H334 May cause allergy or asthma symptoms or breathing difficulties if inhaled. EUH211 Warning! Hazardous respirable droplets may be formed when sprayed. Do not breathe spray or mist. Safety data sheet available from the manufacturer.

Application & tips

Prepare the substrate so that it is sound, clean, dry and free of oil, grease and cement laitance. On concrete, apply Sika Primer-115 thinly and allow 30 minutes to 8 hours to flash off. Form movement joints at least 10 mm wide and backfill with a closed-cell PE backer rod. Apply at +5 to +40 °C air and substrate temperature; the substrate must be at least 3 °C above the dew point. Tool with Sika Tooling Agent N; skin formation after 5 to 6 hours, through-curing around 2 mm in 24 hours (+23 °C, 50 % RH). Contains isocyanates. Apply only with disposable nitrile gloves and safety goggles and ensure good ventilation; cured sealant can only be removed mechanically. Since 24.08.2023, professional users require training under REACH Annex XVII No. 74. Clean tools immediately with Sika Remover-208. Store dry at +10 to +25 °C; shelf life 12 months from production when unopened.

Frequently asked questions

Which colour do I need for an approved slurry tank?
Black. According to the manufacturer, concrete grey is intended for applications outside the DIBt approval.

How far does a 600 ml pack go?
With a joint of 15 × 12 mm about 3.3 m, with 25 × 20 mm about 1.2 m.

Which primer do I need?
On concrete in the approved system Sika Primer-115. For metals outside the approval Sika Primer-3 N, for stainless steel and enamel Sika Adhesion Cleaner-1.

Project: Expansion and connection joints on the façade

Clean the joint flanks mechanically, prime porous flanks and insert a closed-cell backing cord so that the joint becomes about twice as wide as deep. Then apply the permanently elastic sealant, smooth it and pull off the masking tape immediately.
