Description
weber.xerm 853 F is a polymer-modified, fast-setting thin-bed and medium-bed mortar on a cement basis for ceramics, natural stone and mosaic. It is classified as C1 FT to DIN EN 12004 and, with EMICODE EC1 PLUS, has very low emissions. The 25 kg sack is intended for everyone who has to finish a surface on the same day.
Benefits at a glance
- Time saved: can be walked on and grouted after approx. 3 hours instead of the otherwise usual 24 hours.
- Two bed thicknesses in one product: adhesive bed up to 10 mm, thin and medium bed without changing product.
- Very low emissions: EMICODE EC1 PLUS, also suitable for living spaces and heated screeds.
- Stable on the wall: wall ceramics do not slip in the fresh mortar bed.
- Easy to calculate: 25 kg is enough for around 11 m² of covering area with a 6 mm notch.
Areas of application
- Wall and floor ceramics, mosaic, brick slips and clinker brick tiles
- Natural stone after a preliminary test, lightweight construction boards and rigid foam boards
- Concrete, plaster, cement and calcium sulphate screed, masonry, aerated concrete, gypsum boards and tile backer boards
- Heated screed constructions
- Time-critical surfaces: showrooms, entrance halls, balconies, terraces
Limits & notes
On gypsum plaster and lightweight plaster the adhesive bed may be at most 3 mm thick. Do not bring into contact with non-ferrous metals such as zinc, lead, copper or aluminium. For permanently wet areas W3-I and surfaces that are permanently under water, the manufacturer refers to special adhesives tested for this purpose. Check natural stone in a preliminary test; stones prone to discolouration or deformation require a water-free reactive resin adhesive.
Hazard statements: Danger. H315 Causes skin irritation. H318 Causes serious eye damage. H335 May cause respiratory irritation. Safety data sheet available from the manufacturer.
Application & tips
Prepare the substrate firm, load-bearing, clean, dry and dimensionally stable, and prime strongly absorbent surfaces. Sprinkle 25 kg of powder into approx. 6.25 l of clean water and stir until lump-free. Cement-containing, alkaline: when mixing wear an FFP2 dust mask, safety goggles and gloves; rinse off splashes immediately with water. Application temperature 5 to 30 °C. The mortar remains workable for approx. 30 minutes, the open time of the combed bed is approx. 20 minutes – only spread as much surface as is covered in this time. Clean tools immediately with water. After approx. 3 hours the surface can be walked on and grouted, after approx. 3 days it can bear full load. Shelf life at least 9 months when stored dry.
