Description
weber.xerm 861 is a cementitious tile adhesive on a cement basis for laying large formats, natural stone and glass mosaic in thin and medium beds. It is classified as C2 TE S1 to DIN EN 12004, i.e. deformable, non-slip and with extended open time. The 25 kg sack in light grey is aimed at tilers and experienced do-it-yourselfers who want to lay wall and floor, indoors and outdoors, with one product.
Benefits at a glance
- Time for laying: 30 minutes open time and around 75 minutes working time per batch.
- Deformable to S1: absorbs stresses from underfloor heating, balconies and large formats.
- Quick to continue work: can be walked on and grouted after 12 hours, can bear full load after 5 days.
- One adhesive for two bedding methods: thin bed and medium bed up to 10 mm adhesive bed thickness.
- Very low emissions: EMICODE EC 1 PLUS, therefore also uncritical for living rooms and bedrooms.
Areas of application
- Large-format porcelain stoneware and ceramic slabs on wall and floor
- Glass mosaic and small-format mosaics
- Natural stone and cast stone
- Concrete, plaster, cement and calcium sulphate screed, sanded mastic asphalt
- Tile backer boards, gypsum fibre and plasterboard, masonry, clinker
- Surfaces with underfloor heating as well as swimming pools according to the KSW guideline
Limits & notes
On weakly load-bearing substrates the adhesive bed thickness must not exceed 3 mm. A tile adhesive does not replace waterproofing: in showers, bathrooms and on balconies, a composite waterproofing with matching sealing tapes belongs beneath the adhesive before tiling.
Hazard statements: Danger. H315 Causes skin irritation. H318 Causes serious eye damage. H335 May cause respiratory irritation. EUH203 Contains chromium (VI). May produce an allergic reaction. Safety data sheet from the manufacturer.
Application & tips
The substrate must be load-bearing, clean, dry and free of separating layers; prime absorbent substrates beforehand. Sprinkle 25 kg of powder into 8 to 8.5 litres of clean water and mix until lump-free, let it mature for 3 minutes and stir again. Cement-containing, alkaline: when mixing wear an FFP2 dust mask, safety goggles and gloves; rinse off splashes immediately with water. Apply the adhesive with the matching notched trowel and lay the tiles within the open time of 30 minutes and float them in; for large formats and outdoors work using the buttering-floating method. Clean tools immediately with water. Store the sack dry and frost-free; unopened it keeps for at least 15 months.
