Description
Ottoseal S110 is a building silicone based on a neutral-curing 1K silicone (oxime system, MEKO-free) for expansion and connection joints indoors and outdoors. It has been tested to all four parts of EN 15651 – facade, glazing, sanitary and pedestrian walkways – and achieves 25 % permissible total deformation. The 310 ml cartridge in 40 shades is aimed at window fitters, joint professionals and DIY users.
Benefits at a glance
- Gentle on materials: neutral-curing and non-corrosive towards unprotected metal surfaces.
- Durable: excellent early load capacity with building-element movement, 25 % permissible total deformation (ISO 11600 G 25 LM).
- Clean joint: highly abrasion-resistant and streak-free according to ift guideline VE-04/2.
- Weatherproof: very good weather, ageing and UV resistance, temperature-resistant from -40 to +180 °C.
- Good adhesion: on glass, anodised and bare aluminium, rigid PVC and galvanised steel without primer.
- Low emissions: EMICODE EC 1 Plus, French VOC class A+, fungicidally treated.
Areas of application
- Connection joints at windows and doors made of wood, metal and plastic
- Glazing rebate sealing on wooden windows and sealing of glass elements, also laminated safety glass (compatible with PVB films)
- Expansion and connection joints on precast concrete and aerated concrete elements
- Joints on facades and metal constructions
- Channel glass and glass blocks
- Expansion and connection joints in sanitary areas
Limits & notes
Not for natural stone such as marble or granite – edge-zone discolouration is a risk there, and a natural stone silicone is the right choice. S110 cannot be painted over and is not suitable for full-surface bonding. Avoid contact with materials containing bitumen or releasing plasticisers, such as butyl, EPDM or neoprene. Transparent and light shades can yellow over time in dark interiors. For butt joints between insulating glass with silicone edge seal, a special glass silicone is necessary.
Application & tips
Bonding surfaces must be clean, free of grease, dry and sound. Clean smooth substrates with cleaner and a lint-free cloth, free porous ones of loose parts mechanically. Insert the cartridge into a manual caulking gun and apply at +5 to +35 °C. Smooth before the skin forms after approx. 10 minutes; remove water streaks from the smoothing agent immediately, otherwise streaks remain. Ensure good ventilation during application and curing, as small amounts of an oxime compound are released. Assemble or pack windows and doors after 24 hours at the earliest. Can be stored unopened, dry, at +15 to +25 °C for 12 months.
Frequently asked questions
Can I paint over Ottoseal S110?
No. It is paint-compatible according to DIN 52452, but cannot itself be painted over.
Is S110 suitable for natural stone?
No, according to the manufacturer's primer table natural stone is excluded.
Do I need a primer?
On glass, aluminium, rigid PVC and galvanised steel usually not. Aerated concrete and clinker need a primer according to the data sheet; with concrete it depends on the individual case.
How quickly does the silicone cure?
The skin forms after approx. 10 minutes; it cures through approx. 2–3 mm in 24 hours (23 °C, 50 % relative humidity).
Can I use S110 in the bathroom?
Yes, it has been tested to EN 15651-3 for sanitary joints and is fungicidally treated. For mouldy old joints the old sealant must be removed completely.
