Areas of application of Ottoflex Deep Primer for Walls and Floors:
- Primer and bonding bridge on absorbent and non-absorbent floor and wall surfaces indoors and outdoors, before laying ceramic coverings.
- Priming and strengthening of absorbent and less absorbent substrates
- Primer before applying acrylate coatings and commercially available solvent-free tile adhesives on lightweight boards, plasterboard, gypsum and lime-gypsum plasters, gypsum planks, gypsum fibreboards, concrete, aerated concrete, sand-lime brick, brick, masonry, plasters, screeds, anhydrite and mastic asphalt screeds, building boards, trowelable and self-levelling floor levelling compounds
- Use as part of tile laying to DIN 18157-1
- Makes it easier to remove wallpaper during renovation work
- Increases the load-bearing capacity and strength of the substrate
Pre-treatment:
The substrate must be firm, sound, absorbent and perfectly level as well as free of oil, grease, dust and other separating layers.
The residual moisture must not exceed the following values:
Cement screed: 2 %
Calcium sulphate screed: 0.5 %
Heated calcium sulphate screed: 0.3 %
Gypsum-bound plasters: 1 %.
(Measurement with CM device)
Application note:
Priming absorbent and highly absorbent cement-bound substrates:
Dilute OTTO Deep Primer 1:1 to 1:2 with water and mix thoroughly. Apply evenly to the substrate with a paint roller, deep-primer brush or brush. On highly absorbent substrates repeat the process. After the primer has dried, tile adhesive can be applied for laying tiles, or the surface can be painted with wall paint, plastered or papered with wallpaper.
Priming screeds with old floor-covering adhesive residues:
Stir OTTO Deep Primer thoroughly before use and pour it onto the substrate. Apply generously and evenly with a broom. Avoid puddling. Strengthening of the above-mentioned gypsum and anhydrite substrates as well as
mastic asphalt screeds:
Stir OTTO Deep Primer thoroughly before use. Then apply it undiluted, generously and evenly with a paint roller, deep-primer brush or brush. Check the strengthening and curing with a scratch test. After the primer has dried, tile adhesive can be applied for laying tiles, or the surface can be painted with wall paint, plastered or papered with wallpaper.
Strengthening screeds before laying tiles and mosaic:
Coat 1: dilute OTTO Deep Primer 1:1 with water and stir thoroughly. Then pour OTTO Deep Primer onto the substrate and apply it with a fur roller, brush or paintbrush
evenly.
Coat 2: after coat 1 has dried, check the strengthening and curing with a scratch test. Then apply the second coat with undiluted OTTO Deep Primer. After the second coat has dried, further work steps can follow after approx. 24 hours.
Drying time:
Since OTTO Deep Primer dries through evaporation of the water content in the product, the drying time depends on the temperature of the air and of the building structure, air movement, humidity and the layer thickness of the coating. At +20 °C and a relative humidity of 50 % the drying time of OTTO Deep Primer is approx. 2 hours.
Consumption:
The consumption of the priming coat depends on the absorbency and condition of the substrate.
Primer for absorbent and highly absorbent cement-bound substrates:
diluted 1:1 to 1:2 with water approx. 100 to 200 ml/m² .
Moisture-blocking primer for gypsum substrates:
undiluted approx. 100 to 150 ml/m²
Priming and strengthening of cement screeds before tile laying:
diluted 1:1 with water approx. 200 ml/m²
Cleaning of tools:
Clean tools and soiled areas with water immediately after use. Because of the many possible influences during processing and application, the applicator must always carry out a trial application. The specific use-by date can be found printed on the container and must be observed.
