Description
Birtel Goldband Fineline is a masking tape based on rice paper for precise, sharp paint edges in painting and varnishing work indoors and outdoors. The impregnated, flat-creped backing is extra thin yet tear-resistant, and the acrylic adhesive is UV-resistant. Fineline is the premium version of the Goldband line: it pulls cleaner edges and sticks more strongly than Goldband ECO. The 50 m roll is available in five widths from 19 to 50 mm, for painters in their daily work as well as for renovators.

Limits & notes
The tape is intended for straight, flat surfaces. The manufacturer gives no information on the maximum time it may stay on the substrate – so peel the tape off as soon as possible after applying the paint, outdoors too. If you only need rough masking and no exact edge, the cheaper Goldband ECO will do.
Application & tips
The substrate must be clean, dry and free of grease and dust. Apply the tape straight and press it down evenly along its whole length, especially at the later paint edge. Then apply the paint and peel off the tape as promptly as possible after application – this produces an exact edge.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Goldband Fineline and Goldband ECO?
Fineline is the premium version: it pulls cleaner paint edges and has higher adhesion. ECO is the cheaper variant of the same Goldband line.
Can I also use the tape outdoors?
Yes, the acrylic adhesive is UV-resistant and the tape is suitable for indoors and outdoors. Peel it off as soon as possible after painting outdoors too.
When do I peel off the tape?
As promptly as possible after applying the paint. Then the edge stays exact and the tape comes away without residue.
Which width do I need?
19 and 25 mm are enough for edges, skirting and frames. 38 and 50 mm make sense if a wider protective strip is needed next to the edge.
