Description
Sikaflex AT Connection is a one-component sealant based on silane-terminated polymers (STP) for elastic connection joints on windows, doors and facades in building and civil engineering. It is classified to EN 15651-1 as F EXT-INT CC 25 HM, is free of isocyanates and solvents and cures odour-neutrally with atmospheric moisture. The 600 ml sausage pack is intended for window and facade fitters with a larger volume of joints.
Benefits at a glance
- For interiors with high demands: EMICODE EC1PLUS, free of isocyanates and solvents – suitable for living spaces, schools and nurseries.
- Less pre-treatment: adheres to many metals and plastics without primer; on rigid PVC a clean with adhesion cleaner is enough.
- Durable outdoors: very high UV resistance and colour stability for visible facade joints.
- Elastic enough for connection joints: 25 % movement accommodation factor, 450 % elongation at break and 70 % elastic recovery.
- Clean joint appearance: extrudes and tools well, does not slump.
Areas of application
- Connection joints on windows, doors and roller shutter boxes to the RAL guideline
- Metal facades and metal cladding
- Connections to plastic components indoors and outdoors
- Movement and connection joints between concrete components
Limits & notes
Not suitable for glass sealing, floor joints or joints with permanent water exposure – for trafficked floor joints a PU floor joint sealant is the right choice. On PE, PP, Teflon, polystyrene, bitumen, EPDM and plasticiser-containing substrates use only after a preliminary test; the same applies to natural stone other than granite. Overpainting is possible but can lead to cracking, a tacky surface or colour deviation, so check compatibility beforehand.
Application & tips
Joint flanks must be sound, clean, dry and free from oil, grease and cement slurry. Clean smooth substrates such as stainless steel, anodised aluminium or rigid PVC with Sika Haftreiniger-1 (15 minutes flash-off), and pre-treat absorbent substrates such as concrete, render or masonry as well as copper and titanium zinc with Sika Primer-3 N (30 minutes to 8 hours flash-off). Insert closed-cell PE backing rod (width to depth 2 : 1, joint width 10 to 35 mm), apply the sealant free of bubbles with a sausage gun and press it firmly against the flanks and the backing rod with a tooling spatula. Apply at +5 to +40 °C, with the substrate at least 3 °C above the dew point. Clean tools immediately with Sika Remover-208; cured material can be removed mechanically only. Store cool and dry at +10 to +25 °C; unopened shelf life 12 months.
Frequently asked questions
How many metres of joint can I fill with one pack?
With a joint of 10 × 8 mm a 600 ml pack is enough for about 7.5 m, and with 20 × 10 mm for about 3 m.
Do I need a special gun?
Yes, the sausage pack is applied with a 600 ml sausage gun; a cartridge gun will not fit.
Is the sealant approved for windows installed to the RAL guideline?
Yes, Sika expressly approves it for connection joints to the RAL installation guideline; the minimum joint width at the window is 10 mm.
Are other colours available?
Yes, further Sika colours from the colour chart can be ordered on request; the delivery time is then longer than for the five stock colours.
