Description
Ottoflex Liquid Membrane is a surface waterproofing under tiles, slabs, ceramic coverings, marble and natural stone against non-pressurised water. Ottoflex Liquid Membrane is suitable for a wide variety of substrates, such as gypsum, plasterboard, plaster, (aerated) concrete, masonry, stone, screed

Areas of application of Liquid Membrane:
Surface waterproofing under tiles, slabs, ceramic coverings, marble and natural stone against non-pressurised water
Suitable for a wide variety of substrates, such as gypsum plaster, plasterboard, lightweight building board, plaster, (aerated) concrete, masonry, stone, screed
Pre-treatment:
The substrates must be perfectly level, clean, sound, dry, free of oil and grease and free of other residues such as dust, dirt and loose parts etc. Remove residues by brushing and vacuuming. The surface must not contain voids, burrs or continuous cracks. Unevenness must be levelled out either before application or afterwards with a suitable tile adhesive. The residual moisture must not exceed the following values:
Cement screed: 2 %
Anhydrite screed: 0.5 %
Anhydrite screed, heated: 0.3 %
Treat absorbent and highly absorbent mineral substrates, plasterboard and other gypsum-containing substrates with Ottoflex Pre-Coat and allow to dry for at least 2 hours. The drying time depends on the temperature of the air and of the structure, air movement, humidity and the absorbency of the substrate. At +20°C and
a relative humidity of 50 % the drying time is about 2 hours.
Gypsum plasters must be firm, dry, smoothed and at least 10 mm thick in a single layer. Waterproofing membranes made of polyethylene, polypropylene and bitumen welding sheets are not suitable as substrates. For non-absorbent substrates made of chemical building materials such as polyurethanes, polyacrylates, epoxides etc., please consult our technical department.
Application note for Liquid Membrane:
Stir Ottoflex Liquid Membrane well with a paddle mixer before use and apply it with a paint roller (short-pile paint roller or foam roller). First the wall corners and the corners between wall and floor are sealed with Ottoflex Sealing Tape, embedding it in the fresh liquid membrane and brushing over the fabric generously with the edge area of the coating. Then Ottoflex Liquid Membrane is applied to wall and floor in an even layer thickness. After a drying time of at least 1 hour the second application follows. Applying a 3rd coat is possible, but not necessary.
Clean equipment with water after use.
After approx. 2-3 hours, commercially available tile adhesives can be applied to the liquid membrane using the thin-bed method.
The Ottoflex waterproofing system is not suitable for waterproofing balconies or terraces on its own. Because of the many possible influences during processing and application, the user must always carry out a trial application. The specific use-by date can be found printed on the container and must be observed.
