Düfa D424 silk latex paint silk gloss white scrub-resistant

Description

Düfa D424 Silk Latex is a silk-gloss latex paint based on polyvinyl acetate dispersion for hard-wearing, easy-to-clean interior coatings. To DIN EN 13300 it reaches wet abrasion class 1 and hiding power class 2. The 2.5 l bucket covers around 9 m² with two coats – for painters and renovators who paint hallways, stairwells or children's rooms.

Benefits at a glance

  • For heavily used surfaces: wet abrasion class 1 to DIN EN 13300 – the wall withstands repeated wet cleaning.
  • Silky gloss: gloss level G2a (medium gloss), the surface is easy to clean.
  • Good hiding power: contrast ratio class 2 at a coverage of approx. 7 m²/l.
  • Structure-preserving: fine grain S1, glass fabric and woodchip wallpaper keep their structure.
  • Low-emission: under 1 g/l VOC, solvent-free and plasticiser-free according to VdL guideline 01.
  • Tintable: with a maximum of 5 % full-shade and tinting paint on a dispersion basis.

Areas of application

  • Hallways, stairwells, children's rooms, living and working rooms
  • Glass fabric, glass and cellulose fleeces, woodchip wallpaper, textured and paper wallpapers
  • Lime-cement and gypsum plasters, concrete, plasterboard and fibre cement boards
  • Renovation of sound old dispersion coats

Limits & notes

Silk latex is an interior paint; for exterior walls a facade paint is the right choice. Silk-gloss surfaces show unevenness and overlaps more clearly than matt ones – prepare the substrate carefully and work wet-on-wet. Do not apply below +5 °C room and substrate temperature.

Hazard statements: Warning. May cause an allergic skin reaction. Safety data sheet available from the manufacturer.

Application & tips

The substrate must be firm, dry, clean and sound, free of efflorescence, sinter layers and release agents. Stir the paint and apply with brush, roller (interior paint roller with 12 mm pile) or airless. Dilute the intermediate coat with at most 10 % water, the final coat undiluted or with at most 5 % water; roll the last coat in one direction. Avoid skin contact; when spraying wear safety goggles and respiratory protection with combination filter A2/P2 and ventilate well. At 20 °C and 65 % humidity it can be overpainted after approx. 4 hours and is through-dry after approx. 4 days. Clean tools immediately with water and a little washing-up liquid. Store cool, dry and frost-free, close opened containers tightly.

Frequently asked questions

How much area can I cover with 2.5 litres?
At approx. 145 ml/m² per coat on a smooth substrate around 17 m² painted once or 9 m² painted twice; rough surfaces need more.

Is silk latex washable?
Yes. With wet abrasion class 1 the paint achieves the highest scrub resistance class to DIN EN 13300. Before the first wet cleaning, wait for the through-drying time of approx. 4 days.

Is the paint very glossy?
No, it is silk-gloss (G2a, medium gloss) – considerably less than a varnish, but visibly more than a matt wall paint.

Can I tint silk latex?
Yes, with up to 5 % full-shade and tinting paint on a dispersion basis; on one surface use material from one batch only.
