Description
Sikaflex-11 FC Purform is a one-component adhesive and sealant based on polyurethane for elastic bonding and joint sealing indoors and outdoors. To ISO 11600 it absorbs a permissible total movement of 25 percent and is tested to EN 15651-1, -3 and -4. The 300 ml cartridge is aimed at tradespeople in building construction and civil engineering as well as at demanding DIY users.
Benefits at a glance
- Elastic and durable: 25 percent total movement, 800 percent elongation at break, 85 percent elastic recovery.
- Purform technology: under 0.1 percent free monomeric diisocyanates, so businesses are exempt from the training requirement under the REACH restriction.
- Low emission: EMICODE EC1PLUS, solvent-free and odour-neutral, also for interiors.
- Broad adhesion: on concrete, plaster, brick, wood and metal, on aluminium, titanium zinc and rigid PVC after pre-treatment with the suitable Sika primer.
- Can be finished: sandable after curing, coatable in steel construction to ZTV-KOR sheet 87.
Areas of application
- Movement and connection joints in building construction and civil engineering with 10 to 35 mm joint width
- Joints in timber and metal construction and in air-conditioning and ventilation engineering
- Wall and floor joints indoors and outdoors
- Elastic bonding of components and building elements
- Sealing gaps and welded seams in steel construction against corrosion
Limits & notes
Not suitable for glass sealing, swimming pools and joints under water pressure. The material does not adhere to Teflon, PE, PP, polystyrene, EPDM, natural rubber and bituminous substrates. Load-bearing structural bonding and overhead applications on ceilings are excluded.
Hazard statements: Warning. H317 May cause an allergic skin reaction. EUH204 Contains isocyanates. May produce an allergic reaction. Safety data sheet available from the manufacturer.
Application & tips
The joint flanks must be load-bearing, firm, clean, dry and free of oil, grease and loose particles. Pre-treat absorbent substrates with Sika Primer-3 N or Primer-115, wipe non-absorbent surfaces with Sika Adhesion Cleaner-1, observe the flash-off time. For movement joints, backfill with a closed-cell PE backer rod and avoid air inclusions. Contains isocyanates. Apply only with disposable nitrile gloves and safety goggles, ensure good ventilation; cured material can only be removed mechanically. Smooth the joint within the skin-forming time of around 50 minutes. Clean tools immediately with Sika Remover-208 or cleaning wipes. Store dry between +5 °C and +25 °C, protect from sun.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need diisocyanate training as a business for this?
No. The content of free monomeric diisocyanates is below 0.1 percent, so the product does not fall under the training requirement of the REACH restriction.
Can I paint over the joint later?
Sika advises against it, because the paint does not follow the joint movement. If it is unavoidable, use only sealant-compatible paints and trim the joint edges by 1 mm at most.
How many metres do I get from one cartridge?
According to Sika, 300 ml is enough for about 12 running metres with a 5 x 5 mm joint cross-section or around 100 bonding dabs of 30 mm diameter.
Is the product suitable for permanently wet areas?
No. Joints under water pressure or permanent water exposure and swimming pools are excluded; a sealant with the appropriate approval is needed for these.
