Description

Ottoseal S34 floor joint silicone is characterised by very good chemical, weather and ageing resistance. Ottoseal S34 floor joint silicone is extremely stretchable, heat-resistant up to 265 degrees and therefore Ottoseal S34 withstands high loads. Ottoseal S34 floor joint silicone is perfectly suited to sealing floor joints subject to high mechanical stress. Ottoseal S34 can also be used to seal floor and connection joints subject to high chemical loads, e.g. in dairies, slaughterhouses, beverage and food factories, catering kitchens etc.

  • Neutral-curing RTV-1 silicone sealant
  • Very high notch resistance and tear propagation resistance
  • Very good chemical resistance
  • High temperature resistance up to +265 °C
  • Resistant to machine cleaning with high-pressure water
  • Suitable for trafficked areas, e.g. forklift traffic (observing IVD leaflet no. 1)
  • Non-corrosive
  • UV-resistant
  • Very good weather and ageing resistance

Areas of application:

  • Sealing floor and connection joints subject to high mechanical stress, e.g. in storage and production halls, yard areas, parking decks, underground car parks, workshops, car washes etc.
  • Sealing floor and connection joints subject to high chemical loads, e.g. in dairies, slaughterhouses, beverage and food factories, catering kitchens etc.

Standards and tests:

  • Suitable for applications in accordance with IVD leaflet no. 1

Special notes:

During the curing of OTTOSEAL S34, small amounts of an oxime compound are gradually released. In its final state OTTOSEAL S34 is completely odourless and inert. With heavy vehicle traffic (e.g. forklifts) it is recommended to cover the elastic joints with a protective profile (T-profile) or a protective plate. For heavily stressed floor joints wider than 15 mm we generally recommend the use of protective plates.
To protect the joint flanks on concrete and screed, edge protection profiles can be used or the joint flanks can be chamfered.
Important information on sealing floor joints, as well as construction sketches, can be found in IVD leaflet no. 1.
When working with high-pressure cleaners, keep a distance of at least 50 cm between the spray nozzle and the sealant. Before mechanical loading, OTTOSEAL S34 must cure for at least 24 - 48 hours, depending on joint depth. Appropriate protection must be provided during this time. For sealing on marble and other natural stones (e.g. granite) we recommend OTTOSEAL S70. The curing time lengthens as the layer thickness of the silicone increases. One-component silicones are not suitable for full-surface bonding unless the special structural conditions for it are met.

Pre-treatment:

The bonding surfaces must be clean, free of grease, dry and sound. The bonding surfaces must be cleaned and any contamination, such as release agents, preservatives, grease, oil, dust, water, old adhesives/sealants and other substances that impair adhesion, must be removed. Cleaning non-porous substrates: clean with OTTO Cleaner T (flash-off time approx. 1 minute) and a clean, lint-free cloth. Cleaning porous substrates: clean surfaces of loose particles mechanically, e.g. with a steel brush or a grinding disc.

Application:

Floor joints/connection joints according to IVD leaflet no. 1 indoors and outdoors in concrete and screed that are exposed to static loads or rolling traffic - in warehouses, production halls, yard areas, parking decks, underground car parks. Thanks to its very high notch resistance and high tear propagation resistance, OTTOSEAL S 34 is very well suited to surfaces that are regularly machine-cleaned. Nevertheless, care must be taken that the joints are not destroyed by hard cleaning brushes and that a minimum distance of 50 cm is kept between the spray nozzle and OTTOSEAL S 34 when working with a high-pressure cleaner. Additional chemicals used influence the resistance of the sealant. - Floor joints / connection joints in areas exposed to chemicals, e.g. drum stores, filling areas, yard areas, handling areas, laboratories, workshops, wash halls - in ceramic floors, e.g.
food industry, dairies, catering kitchens It must be taken into account that elastic jointing in these areas constitutes maintenance joints according to DIN 52 460, which must be checked at regular intervals (e.g. annually) and renewed if necessary to prevent consequential damage.
Because of the many possible influences during processing and application, the applicator must always carry out a trial application. The specific use-by date can be found printed on the container and must be observed. We recommend storing our products in the unopened original containers dry (< 60 % RH) in a temperature range of + 15° C to + 25° C. If the products are stored and/or transported for longer periods (several weeks) at higher temperature/humidity, a reduction in shelf life or a change in material properties cannot be ruled out.

Storage:

In unopened packaging, stored cool (+5ºC and +25ºC) and dry. Close opened containers tightly and use up quickly.
