Description
Ottoseal S125 Building Silicone is a low-odour, fungicidally treated building silicone based on alkoxy. Ottoseal S125 Building Silicone is an indispensable 1K silicone sealant for sealing facades, roller shutter boxes, parapet elements and metal constructions. Ottoseal S 125 Alkoxy Silicone is non-corrosive and adheres well to ceramic substrates.
- Neutral-curing 1K silicone sealant based on alkoxy
- Non-corrosive
- Good adhesion on ceramic substrates
- Fungicidally treated
- Very good weather, ageing and UV resistance
Areas of application of Alkoxy Silicone:
- Sealing connection joints at windows and doors made of wood, metal and plastic
- Expansion and connection joints in precast concrete construction
- Sealing facades, parapet elements, roller shutter boxes and metal constructions
- Expansion joints and connection joints in sanitary areas
- For external face sealing in combination with materials such as ceramics, metal, glass etc.
Standards and tests:
- Suitable for applications in accordance with IVD leaflet no. 7+9
Special notes:
Before using the adhesive / sealant, the user must ensure that the materials in the contact area (solid, liquid and gaseous) are compatible with the adhesive / sealant and do not damage or alter it (e.g. discolour it). For materials that are subsequently processed in the area of the adhesive / sealant, the user must clarify beforehand that their ingredients or emissions cannot impair or alter the adhesive / sealant (e.g. discolouration). If necessary, the user must consult the respective manufacturer of the materials. Avoid contact with materials containing bitumen or releasing plasticisers, e.g. butyl, EPDM, neoprene, insulating and black coatings. Paints, varnishes, plastics and other coating materials must be compatible with the adhesive / sealant. During curing, small amounts of alcohol are gradually released. Ensure good ventilation during application and curing. After curing, the product is completely odourless, physiologically harmless and inert. The curing time lengthens as the layer thickness of the silicone increases. One-component silicones are not suitable for full-surface bonding unless the special structural conditions for it are met. Heavy exposure to tobacco smoke and similar environmental influences can cause the sealant to discolour. When smoothing agent is used, water streaks that have formed must be removed immediately after sealing. If cleaning is carried out at a later time, permanent streaks may remain. When refurbishing joints contaminated with mould, the existing elastic sealant must be removed completely. Before re-sealing, the affected joint areas must be treated with OTTO Anti-Mould Spray to remove any fungal spores present. Otherwise, despite the fungicidal treatment of the sealant, mould can very quickly attack the joint again. Please observe the technical data sheet for OTTO Anti-Mould Spray.
Pre-treatment:
The bonding surfaces must be cleaned and any contamination, such as release agents, preservatives, grease, oil, dust, water, old adhesives / sealants and other substances that impair adhesion, must be removed. Cleaning non-porous substrates: clean with OTTO Cleaner T (flash-off time approx. 1 minute) and a clean, lint-free cloth. Cleaning porous substrates: clean surfaces of loose particles mechanically, e.g. with a steel brush or a grinding disc. The bonding surfaces must be clean, free of grease, dry and sound.
Application:
Application temperature: +5ºC to +35ºC.
Application method: apply with a manual, compressed-air or cordless gun.
Cleaning: with white spirit before curing, afterwards removable with silicone remover or mechanically.
Smoothing: with smoothing agent and scraper before a skin forms.
Storage:
12 months from the date of production in unopened packaging, stored cool (+5ºC and +25ºC) and dry. Close opened containers tightly and use up quickly.
The specific use-by date can be found printed on the container and must be observed. We recommend storing Otto Chemie adhesives and sealants in the unopened original containers dry (< 60 % RH) in a temperature range of + 15° C to + 25° C. If the products are stored and/or transported for longer periods (several weeks) at higher temperature/humidity, a reduction in shelf life or a change in material properties cannot be ruled out.
