Special notes:
Before using the adhesive / sealant, the user must ensure that the building materials in the contact area (solid, liquid and gaseous) are compatible with the adhesive / sealant and do not damage or alter it (e.g. discolour it). For building materials that are subsequently processed in the area of the adhesive / sealant, the user must clarify beforehand that their ingredients or emissions cannot impair or alter the adhesive / sealant (e.g. discolouration). If necessary, the user must consult the respective manufacturer of the building materials. Not suitable for glazing rebate sealing, for floor joints, for sanitary areas and areas of permanent wetness, under chemical exposure, or in any areas outside our recommendations. Avoid contact with materials containing bitumen or releasing plasticisers, e.g. butyl, EPDM, neoprene, insulating and black coatings. Paints, varnishes, plastics and other coating materials must be compatible with the adhesive / sealant. Not suitable for sealing/bonding copper under UV/temperature exposure. For UV-exposed bonding/sealing of glass we recommend using our high-quality silicone adhesives / sealants such as OTTOSEAL S110 OTTOSEAL S120 (for glazing rebate sealing), OTTOSEAL S 10 (among others for bonding), OTTOSEAL S 7 (for weather sealing) or OTTOCOLL S 81 (for bonded windows).
For UV-exposed bonding/sealing of transparent plastics such as acrylic glass we recommend our silicone sealant OTTOSEAL S 72.
The colours can be affected by environmental influences (high temperature, chemicals, vapours, UV radiation). This has no influence on the product properties. According to the relevant standards, elastic joint sealants should in principle not be painted over the full surface, since, under stress and movement, cracks can appear in the paint coatings, which unlike the
sealant are not elastic.
Pre-treatment:
Preparing the bonding surfaces. Compatibility: paints, varnishes, plastics and other coating materials must be compatible with the adhesive / sealant.
Cleaning: The bonding surfaces must be cleaned and any contamination, such as release agents, preservatives, grease, oil, dust, water, old adhesives / sealants and other substances that impair adhesion, must be removed.
Substrates: cleaner for non-porous ones. Cleaning should be carried out with OTTO Cleaner T, or other cleaners based on acetone or isopropanol, and with a clean, lint-free cloth. Cleaner for porous substrates: porous surfaces must be cleaned of loose particles mechanically, e.g. with a steel brush or a grinding disc.
Application note:
Because of the many possible influences during processing and application, the applicator must always carry out a trial application. The specific use-by date can be found printed on the container and must be observed. We recommend storing the adhesives / sealants in the unopened original containers dry (< 60 % RH) in a temperature range of + 15° C to + 25° C. If the products are stored and/or transported for longer periods (several weeks) at higher temperature/humidity, a reduction in shelf life or a change in material properties cannot be ruled out.
Application:
Application temperature: +5ºC to +35ºC.
Application method: apply with a manual caulking gun, compressed-air gun or cordless gun.
Cleaning: with cleaner before curing, afterwards removable with silicone remover or mechanically.
Smoothing: with smoothing agent and scraper before a skin forms.
Storage:
Can be stored for at least 9 months cool and dry.
