Description
Product information GORI impregnating primer:
GORI 17 is a solvent-based, deep-penetrating wood stain for all dimensionally limited and non-dimensionally stable wood surfaces outdoors. The stain offers UV and weather protection and a film protection against algae and fungi. Furthermore, the stain is easy to process without lap marks and emphasises the natural wood grain.

Areas of application impregnating primer:
Outdoors. For non-dimensionally stable and dimensionally limited components. System partner (base coat) for GORI 66 ALLROUND-LASUR and GORI 88 COMPACT-LASUR.
Note: stains are generally only conditionally walkable. Not suitable for walking surfaces, e.g. terrace and balcony floors, garden parquet etc.
Substrates:
Suitably pre-treated types of wood. Raw, untreated woods outdoors as well as the inner sides of windows and exterior doors:
A – primer with blue stain protection required:
Oak (white) Europe (sapwood), spruce, hemlock, pine (sapwood), larch (sapwood), Oregon pine (Douglas fir) sapwood, plantation pines, e.g. radiata pine, Red Meranti (sapwood), Sitka spruce, fir.
B – primer with blue stain protection not required:
Afzelia (Doussie), American mahogany, Bangkirai (Yellow Balau), oak (white) Europe (heartwood), eucalyptus, Blue Gum (Eucalyptus globulus), Framire, Iroko (Kambala), pine (heartwood), larch (heartwood), Merbau, Okoume, Oregon pine (Douglas fir) heartwood, Red Meranti heartwood, robinia, Sapelli, Sipo, teak, Western Red Cedar.
Consumption:
Planed wood: approx. 85 ml/m². 1 litre is enough for approx. 12 m² per coat. Determine the exact consumption by a trial application.
Drying time:
Dust-dry after approx. 3 hours. Can be overpainted after 12 – 24 hours (23°C / 60 % rel. humidity). At low temperatures and/or high humidity the drying time is extended. With certain types of wood (e.g. tropical woods, oak etc.) certain wood ingredients can delay drying. Carry out a trial coat.
Processing:
Stir well before and during use. Do not process or dry at temperatures below + 5°C and/or relative humidity > 80%. To ensure uniformity of colour, only process material with the same batch no. on one surface.
Important:
Wood ingredients sometimes soil the house façade (dark or coloured runs). They are washed out via end-grain surfaces. Therefore seal end grain (end and cut surfaces) with two additional coats, or better still with a thick-build stain or clear varnish. Avoid direct contact of the wood with alkaline plasters. After the first coat, wood fibres may stand up. A light intermediate sanding achieves a smooth surface.
Note:
Scrape out resin spots and clean with a suitable agent (e.g. nitro universal thinner). Resin bleeding cannot be prevented by coating measures. Remove algae and mould (e.g. with GORI green deposit remover) as well as dirt and loose paint parts. Sand heavily weathered surfaces down to sound wood. If necessary, lighten greyed wood with Gori Universal wood bleach 3061. Remove old paint and thick-build stain coats completely, down to the pores. Lightly sand intact old thin-build stain coats.
Storage:
Keeps in unopened containers. Close containers well after use. Store and transport cool, dry and frost-free
