How our guides are made
Who writes them. The guides are written by the Baustoff-Held editorial team. We are a specialist merchant for construction chemicals: sealants, adhesives, expanding foam, waterproofing, paints and wood preservatives. The questions we answer here reach us every day by phone and by email – from trade businesses as much as from DIY users.
Where the figures come from. Every application figure, every usage value and every temperature limit comes from the manufacturer's technical data sheet, from standards (for example DIN 18534 for bathroom waterproofing, DIN EN 17333 for expanding foam, DIN EN 204 for wood glue) or from the guidance notes of the trade associations (IVD). What we cannot substantiate, we do not write.
How we check. Every guide carries the date of its last review. We compare the figures against the current data sheets; if a manufacturer changes a formulation or a usage value, we change the guide. You will find the data sheets themselves on every product.
Why there are products under the guides. We sell what we describe. The block "What you need" names the products that make the described job work – chosen for suitability, not for margin. Where our range has nothing suitable, we deliberately recommend nothing.
Tools. We also use AI tools for research and drafting. Only what the editorial team has checked and compared against data sheets and standards is published – the responsibility for every sentence is ours.
Images. Application photographs come from the manufacturers (with attribution, for example "Image: © Hermann Otto GmbH") or from our own warehouse. Illustrations are marked as such.
