Description
Ottoseal S9 is a neutral-curing RTV-1 silicone sealant. Ottoseal S9 silicone sealant, insulating glass edge seal for producing extremely UV-resistant insulating glass units. Ottoseal S 9 is compatible with PVB films in laminated safety glass units. Ottoseal S9 is an indispensable silicone sealant, which has an extremely strong adhesion to glass and many materials, in some cases in combination with adhesion promoters.

Areas of application:
Secondary edge seal for producing UV-resistant insulating glass units in combination with butyl rubber as the primary seal.
Standards and tests:
- Tested by ift Rosenheim to EN 1279, Part 2 on gas-filled multi-pane insulating glass with aluminium spacers and to EN 1279, Part 4, Section 5.1 and 5.2 by MPA Darmstadt.
Pre-treatment:
The bonding surfaces must be clean, free of grease, dry and sound. The bonding surfaces must be cleaned and any contamination, such as release agents, preservatives, grease, oil, dust, water, old adhesives/sealants and other substances that impair adhesion
must be removed. Cleaning non-porous substrates: clean with OTTO Cleaner T (flash-off time approx. 1 minute) and a clean, lint-free cloth. Cleaning porous substrates: clean surfaces of loose particles mechanically, e.g. with a steel brush or a grinding disc.
Application notes:
Ensure good
ventilation during the application and curing of OTTOSEAL S9. OTTOSEAL S9 is ready to use and can be used immediately after opening the container accordingly. Parts to be bonded must be clean, free of grease, dry and sound.
As a cleaner we recommend OTTO Cleaner T , methylated spirits or similar, or automatic cleaning systems. When using adhesion promoters
(primers ) from the OTTO range, no intermediate waiting times are required.
Because of the many possible influences during processing and application, the user must always carry out a trial application. The specific use-by date can be found printed on the container and must be observed.
Application:
Application temperature: +5ºC to +35ºC.
Application method: apply with a manual caulking gun, compressed-air gun or cordless gun.
Cleaning: with white spirit before curing, afterwards removable with silicone remover or mechanically.
Smoothing: with smoothing agent and scraper before a skin forms.
