Special notes:
Before using the adhesive / sealant, the user must ensure that the materials in the contact area (solid, liquid and gaseous) are compatible with the adhesive / sealant and do not damage or alter it (e.g. discolour). For materials that are subsequently processed in the area of the adhesive / sealant, the user must clarify beforehand that their ingredients or emissions cannot impair or alter the adhesive / sealant (e.g. discolouration). If necessary, the user must consult the respective manufacturer of the materials. Avoid contact with materials containing bitumen or releasing plasticisers, e.g. butyl, EPDM, neoprene, insulating and black coatings. Paints, varnishes, plastics and other coating materials must be compatible with the adhesive / sealant. Because of the large number of paint systems for wooden windows, no general statement can be made regarding adhesion and compatibility. Individual preliminary tests are therefore necessary. Windows and doors may be assembled or packed no earlier than 24 hours later. Otherwise there is a risk of discolouration of the paint. During curing, small amounts of an oxime compound are gradually released. Ensure good ventilation during application and curing. After curing the product is completely odourless, physiologically harmless and inert. The vulcanisation time increases with increasing layer thickness of the silicone. One-component silicones are not suitable for bonding over large areas unless the special structural conditions for this are met. When using smoothing agent, water streaks that appear must be removed immediately after sealing. If cleaning is carried out at a later time, permanent streaks may remain. Heavy exposure to tobacco smoke and similar environmental influences can lead to discolouration of the sealant. For sealing butt joints between insulating glass with UV-resistant edge seal made of silicone rubber (e.g. sloping glazing, all-glass facades, etc.) we recommend OTTOSEAL S 7. When renovating joints contaminated with mould, the existing elastic sealant must be removed completely. Before re-jointing, the affected joint areas must be treated with OTTO Anti-Mould Spray in order to remove any fungal spores present. Otherwise, despite the fungicidal finish of the sealant, mould growth on the joint can very quickly occur again.
Pre-treatment:
The bonding surfaces must be cleaned and any contamination, such as release agents, preservatives, grease, oil, dust, water, old adhesives/sealants and other substances that impair adhesion, must be removed. Cleaning non-porous substrates: clean with OTTO Cleaner T (flash-off time approx. 1 minute) and a clean, lint-free cloth. Cleaning porous substrates: clean surfaces of loose particles mechanically, e.g. with a steel brush or a grinding disc. The bonding surfaces must be clean, free of grease, dry and sound.
Application:
Application temperature: +5ºC to +35ºC.
Application method: Apply with manual caulking gun, compressed-air gun or cordless gun.
Cleaning: With white spirit before curing, afterwards removable with silicone remover or mechanically.
Smoothing: With smoothing agent and scraper before skin formation.
Storage:
Can be stored cool and dry for at least 24 months.
