Areas of application of Ottocoll M580:
- General bonding in metal construction
- For interior and exterior use
- For stress-compensating bonding and assembly of a wide variety of materials such as wood, wood-based materials, glass, metals (e.g. aluminium, stainless steel, anodised aluminium, brass, copper), plastics (e.g. rigid PVC, flexible PVC, GRP etc.), mineral substrates (e.g. brick, tile, ceramics), fire-protection building boards (plasterboard etc.)
- For vehicle body and vehicle construction, railway wagon and container construction, metal and apparatus engineering, shipbuilding
- Sealing air-conditioning and ventilation systems
- Bonding of ceramics
- Bonding of leaf-overlapping door panels
Standards and tests:
- French VOC emission class A+
Special notes:
Leaf-overlapping door panels: as the manufacturer we can only accept the warranty for the product properties of our adhesive. It is therefore solely the responsibility of the user to ensure, through appropriate planning and the carrying out of tests, that the functionality of the overall construction is guaranteed over the entire service life of the component. This must in any case be ensured by suitable preliminary tests! Before using the product, the user must ensure that the materials in the contact area with it and with each other are compatible and do not damage or alter each other (e.g. discolour). For materials that are subsequently processed in the area of the product, the user must clarify beforehand that their ingredients or emissions cannot impair or alter the product (e.g. discolouration). If necessary, the user must consult the respective manufacturer of the materials. Paints, varnishes, plastics and other coating materials must be compatible with the adhesive/sealant. For UV-exposed bonds/seals of glass we recommend using our high-quality silicone adhesives/sealants such as OTTOSEAL® S 110 / S 120 (for glazing rebate sealing), OTTOSEAL® S 10 (among others for bonding), OTTOSEAL® S 7 (for weather sealing) or OTTOCOLL® S 81 (for bonded windows). For UV-exposed bonds/seals of transparent plastics such as acrylic glass we recommend our silicone sealant OTTOSEAL® S 72. Not suitable for sealing/bonding copper under UV/temperature exposure. During curing, small amounts of alcohol are gradually released. With progressive storage, slight phase separation may occur in component B. If a small amount is carefully extruded from the double cartridge to make sure that both components emerge evenly again, the material can be processed without problems after fitting the static mixer.
Pre-treatment:
The bonding surfaces must be cleaned and any contamination, such as release agents, preservatives, grease, oil, dust, water, old adhesives / sealants and other substances that impair adhesion, must be removed. Cleaning non-porous substrates: clean with OTTO Cleaner T (flash-off time approx. 1 minute) and a clean, lint-free cloth. Cleaning porous substrates: clean surfaces of loose particles mechanically, e.g. with a steel brush or a grinding disc. The bonding surfaces must be clean, free of grease, dry and sound.
Application notes:
Processing 2K adhesives and sealants from side-by-side cartridge:
First remove the stoppers of both components. Insert the cartridge into the gun. Squeeze out material until material emerges from both components. Wipe off material and attach the static mixer. Check the homogeneity of the mixture. Component A is sensitive to atmospheric humidity and must therefore be protected from moisture. Component B does not react with atmospheric humidity and is stable under normal conditions (23 °C, 50 % RH). To achieve optimum adhesion and good mechanical properties, the inclusion of air must be avoided. Application/smoothing: the adhesive/sealant must be smoothed within its pot life to ensure intimate contact with the bonding surface and the flanks. No smoothing agent may be used. We recommend storing our products in the unopened original containers dry (< 60 % RH) in a temperature range of + 15° C to + 25° C. If the products are stored and / or transported for longer periods (several weeks) at higher temperature/ humidity, a reduction in shelf life or a change in material properties cannot be ruled out. Because of the many possible influences during processing and application, the applicator must always carry out a trial application.
Storage:
6 months from the date of production in unopened packaging, stored cool (+5ºC and +25ºC) and dry. Close opened containers tightly and use up quickly.
