BIWA bitumen tape aluminium repair tape self-adhesive 200 mm x 10 m aluminium

Description

The BIWA Bitumen Tape is a self-adhesive, cold-applied sealing and repair tape made of UV-stable aluminium composite film with elastomeric bitumen coating. It adheres to metal, plastic, concrete, masonry, plaster, wood and glass and seals joints, cracks and connections without a burner and without additional accessories. The tape is available as a 10 m roll in widths 50, 75, 100 and 200 mm and in three colours, for tradespeople and DIY enthusiasts.

Benefits at a glance

  • Cold-applicable: cut to size, lay on, press on firmly, entirely without burner or hot air.
  • Wide range of substrates: adheres to metal, plastic, concrete, masonry, plaster, wood and glass.
  • UV-stable surface: The aluminium composite film is UV-stable, so the tape is suitable for places outdoors.
  • Solvent-free: no solvent smell during application.
  • Matching width: from 50 mm for narrow joints to 200 mm for large connections and overlaps.

Areas of application

  • Sealing joints and cracks
  • Repairing gutters
  • Connections at roof and wall
  • Covers as well as eaves and valley flashings
  • Glass roofs and greenhouses
  • Steel structures and roof coverings

Limits & notes

The tape is not suitable for walkable or drivable substrates. The substrate must be dry, free of frost, grease and silicone as well as abrasion-resistant, otherwise the tape does not adhere reliably. Porous or dusty surfaces require a primer coat beforehand.

Application & tips

Clean the substrate and let it dry; treat porous or dusty surfaces with a primer coat (approx. 200 ml/m²). The application temperature is 5 to 45 °C, measured at air and substrate. At low temperatures, storing the roll beforehand at room temperature improves adhesion. Lay on the tape, press on firmly and avoid air bubbles. Overlap several lengths by at least 50 mm. Store rolls dry, protected from direct sun at 10 to 30 °C, standing on the cut edge. The tape is not sensitive to frost; processing within 12 months is recommended.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to warm the tape?
No, it is applied cold. At low temperatures it helps to store the roll beforehand at room temperature.

How far must lengths overlap?
With several strips at least 50 mm.

Do I need a primer coat?
Only on porous or dusty substrate, at approx. 200 ml/m². Not on smooth, clean surfaces.

Can I walk over the tape?
No, walkable or drivable substrates are not suitable.

Which width fits?
50 mm for narrow joints and cracks, 75 and 100 mm for gutters and connections, 200 mm for wide connections and large overlaps.
